Augmented Information

INFORMATION DEFICIT named the problem: organizations carry an Information Deficit, a gap between what they need to know about their own Structure, Assets, Horizons and Environement, and what they actually know. Naming a gap isn’t closing it. This piece is about what closes it.

At the broadest level, AUGMNT starts from a simple compression: Augmented Information → augmented everything. Every organizational output — a decision, a strategy, a succession plan, a risk assessment — is downstream of the information it’s built on. Improve the information, and everything built on top of it improves with it. Leave the information deficient, and no amount of process, tooling, or talent above it fully compensates. This is the premise the rest of AUGMNT‘s instruments are built to act on.

In practice, that premise takes the shape of specific instruments, each addressing a different part of the same problem:

  • OlistIQ™ works at the level of making tacit organizational knowledge explicit — surfacing what people know but haven’t articulated, so it can be represented, checked, and used rather than remaining locked in individual heads.
  • 3H1S structures information across an organization’s Three Horizons (present, emerging, and distant), so the deficit isn’t just “what do we know,” but “what do we know, and about which horizon” — since organizations often have decent H1 information and almost none on H2 or H3.
  • StrategIQ Risks™ extends augmentation to risk — covering conventional strategic risks, full-horizon risks, new-era risks, and Future-As-Risk (FAR), so an organization sees risks its current framework cannot see.

Each of these is a different angle on the same move: taking information that is currently implicit, scattered, or missing, and making it explicit, structured, and retained.

Where does AI fit into this?

AI is useful here, but only in a specific role: as a processor, not a source. AI can accelerate the work of organizing, structuring, and surfacing information that already exists in some form — drafts, documents, conversations, records — but it does not generate the underlying truth of an organization’s Structure, Assets, or Horizons. That truth originates in human cognition: the people who hold the tacit knowledge, make the decisions, and live inside the organization’s actual terrain. AI can help represent that knowledge faster and more consistently. It cannot substitute for the organization actually having the knowledge in the first place. Treating AI as a source rather than a processor is, in fact, one more way an Information Deficit can quietly deepen — mistaking AI-generated plausibility for organizational truth.

So augmentation, as AUGMNT practices it, is not one tool or one moment. It’s a discipline applied across an organization’s memory, its horizons, and its tacit knowledge — with AI accelerating the work, but human cognition remaining the source it works from.
